Uncle Nearest Whiskey, a success story over 150 years in the making, is now available in Australia.

Since its debut in 2017 The Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey portfolio has garnered more than 1075 awards and accolades throughout the world. These awards include Spirit Brand of the Year from Wine Enthusiast, two Chairman’s Trophies from Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Whisky of the Year from USA Spirits Ratings, the Master Medal from American Whiskey Masters, and three “World’s Best” honors from Whisky Magazine’s World Whiskies Awards.  Uncle Nearest is now recognised as it the most awarded Bourbon and American Whiskey of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Named for Nearest Green, the world’s first known African American master distiller. Nearest is credited with helping perfect the globally recognized Lincoln County Process (the defining distinction between Kentucky Bourbon from Tennessee Whiskey). He taught his craft to others who would later find fame and become whiskey legends in their own right. Today his Great-Great Granddaughter, Victoria Eady Butler, carries on the family tradition as the Master distiller of Uncle Nearest Whiskey today.

The Uncle Nearest brand is available exclusively in Australia through Swift + Moore Beverages. Currently stocks are available of the small batch Uncle Nearest 1884 which is a is a 93-proof whiskey distilled, aged and bottled entirely by Uncle Nearest (LUC $96.51). This is the year we believe Nearest retired and was the final year we believe Nearest put his whiskey in a barrel (at the Distillery previously known as Distillery No.7)
