Entries open for Bacardi Legacy Australia

Entries for Australia’s 2018/19 Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition are now open, with a trip to the global final in Amsterdam waiting for the winner.

Now in its sixth year, the competition challenges the country’s best bartenders to build their own Legacy and create a cocktail that will stand the test of time and gain a place alongside classics like the Daiquiri and the Mojito.

In launching the competition, Bacardi said: “This year’s entries have an incredible opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Andrew Bennett, Dave Kerr and this year’s Australian Legacy title-holder, James Irvine. The winner of the Australian Grand Final in 2018/19 will go on to represent him/herself and Australia at the Bacardi Legacy Global Final in Amsterdam.

“With an impeccable record of reaching the top 8, Australian finalists have proven their skills to the international bartending community. Their incredible performances have gained them not only personal notoriety, but recognition of Australia as a significant contributor in the development of the bartending profession worldwide.”

Bartenders who wish to enter this year’s competition can do so via the Bacardi Legacy website and can check out the Bacardi Legacy Australia Facebook page for updates on this year’s competition.

Additionally in the lead up to the 1 October closing date, Bacardi’s Brand Ambassadors and team will be hosting ‘How-to-Win’ Legacy masterclasses in all major cities.

This year’s competition will see a top 30 selected from the online entries, with those bartenders asked to submit a video of themselves presenting their Legacy cocktail at their hometown bar. That list will then be cut down to the country’s top eight, who will take part in the national semi-finals.

A top three will be selected alongside a wild card entry to create Australia’s Four Most Promising, who will embark on a national promotional campaign before the Australian Grand Final, which will take place in Sydney in February.

The Australian winner will then head to Amsterdam to take part in the global final.
