Bulletin Place to celebrate fifth birthday

by Andy Young

One of Australia’s most celebrated bars, Bulletin Place, is throwing a party next month to celebrate its fifth birthday.

The bar was opened by three friends in December 2012 and has since gone from strength to strength having produced more than 1500 daily cocktail menus. To celebrate its birthday the team is inviting guests to come along to the bar on Sunday 17 December, between 6pm and 10pm to enjoy “five emblematic cocktails from the past five years”. The team said guests can “expect piñatas, cupcakes, and generously discounted cocktails”.

Tim Philips-Johansson, Co-owner of Bulletin Place, said: We had no idea what we were doing when we opened Bulletin Place apart from how to make cocktails.

“We spent more money on ice machines than furnishings, and the fact that the public and trade have warmed to us over the past five years means so so much to us.”

The bar’s outstanding signature is a daily changing cocktail menu which is created from seasonal produce attained from the markets each morning. This offering is bolstered by a “serious zest for the best classic cocktails”.

Since opening its doors Bulletin Place has been listed in the World’s 50 Best Bars three years running and for the last two years has been a finalist at the Australian Liquor Industry Awards in both the Best Bar and Best Cocktail List categories.
