Bar Moncur opens in Sydney

by Stefanie Collins

Public House Management Group have opened the doors to Bar Moncur, an extension of Sydney institution Bistro Moncur Woollahra.

Bar Moncur is a transformation of the space that was once the downstairs bar of The Woollahra Hotel into a dedicated cocktail lounge.

The venues décor is now a mix of leather booths and marble tables with chic furniture various shades of emerald green.

The cocktail menu has been curated by Group Mixologist and 2015 AHA Bartender of the year Kurtis Bosley, with a focus on modernised classics and an excellent liquor selection.

The menu opens with a spread that offers “Bartenders Pick”, as well as three options for spirit choice – “Just Pour” for $22, “Step It Up” for $26, and “Let’s Go Top Shelf” for $30 – encouraging drinkers to take control of what is in their glass.

The cocktail list itself runs from sweet with the Marshmallow-Dente (vodka, Lillet Blanc, orange bitters and marshmallow syrup), through to classic with the Moncur Old Fashioned (with a choice of three bourbons) and to Aperitif style with the Belafonte Spritz (gin, fino, lime, and prosecco).

The bar menu has been overseen by group culinary ambassador Guillaume Brahimi, and is an extension of the bistro menu. It features the likes of potato galette, sauce de poulet and Moncur salmon with sourdough, dill and crème fraiche.
