Recipe: Hello Kitty

Just before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the on-premise industry in Australia, Sydney rooftop bar The Rook, from Australian Venue Co, had launched a magical cherry blossom installation.

With a floral arch, food and cocktail menu inspired by Japan and their cherry blossom season, the pandemic meant many missed out on the garden experience. So when restrictions began to ease and The Rook reopened, they kept the installation around for more to enjoy.

One of the Japanese-influenced cocktails from The Rook team is the Hello Kitty, a gin sour style drink with a pink hue that fits perfectly into the floral backdrop. Get inspired ahead of World Gin Day with the recipe below.

Hello Kitty

Ingredients:


  • 45ml Roku Gin
  • 20ml Cherry Blossom Monin
  • 20ml Lemon juice
  • 20ml Egg white
  • Bitters
  • Garnish: dehydrated lemon wheel & edible pink powder

Directions:


  1. Add all ingredients to tin and dry shake
  2. Add ice and shake again
  3. Double strain into coupette glass
