The Gospel takes Rye July takeover across the country

The Gospel takes Rye July takeover across the country

by Molly Nicholas July 8, 2025

Melbourne-based rye whisky distillery The Gospel is once again championing its signature grain with the return of Rye July – a month-long celebration that unites trade and consumers.

Now in full swing, the campaign features partnerships with more than 60 venues across Australia, dedicated trade promotions and a lineup of activations designed to build awareness and excitement around Australian rye whisky.

As the country’s only distillery solely focused on rye, The Gospel is using the campaign to cement its place as the national leader in the category and drive greater recognition of Australian-made rye whisky both locally and abroad.

Andrew Fitzgerald, The Gospel’s Co-founder, says: “For us, Rye July is a celebration of the underdog, a grain that really pushes a distiller but rewards the drinker with a bold flavour that sings of the region from which it was grown.

“We started The Gospel with the goal of putting Australian rye on the map, and this month is our open invitation for everyone to experience its incredible character.

“Whether you’re a die-hard rye fan or just getting into whiskey, Rye July is the perfect time to explore the depth and spice that makes this grain so special. We’re excited to spread the good word of rye through a lineup of events.”

The Gospel’s Rye July activation sees 60 leading venues from across the country activate special menu takeovers that hero The Gospel’s rye whiskies. Bars include Goodwater in Melbourne, Palomino Lounge in Sydney and Naldham House in Brisbane to name a few.

As an incentive, the venue which best promotes The Gospel’s whiskies throughout the month will win a trip to Melbourne visit the Coburg distillery and experience the team’s favourite local haunts.

The Coburg distillery will also opens its doors on 26 July for an open day that welcomes consumers to see the distillery in full operation and bottle their own release straight from the cask, with two cask releases to choose between.

Other event highlights throughout July include a month-long art exhibition at Gemini Upstairs in Melbourne; an intimate tasting at Goodwater hosted by Andrew himself; a four-course dining experience pairing The Gospel whiskies with premium steaks at Woolstore Geelong; and a rare vault tasting event at Whisky & Alement in Melbourne.
