Shannon Noll launches Great Australian Rum Co and new rum range

by Andy Young

Popular Australian singer Shannon Noll has launched The Great Australian Rum Co, and is promising a fresh line-up of four ‘unapologetically local’ Australian rums.

The first rum to be released is ‘King Brown’, which was recently awarded a Silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Awards. King Brown is double-distilled, which is aged for two years in American oak, before being finished across a line-up of casks – ex-Shiraz French Oak, Maple Syrup, Bourbon, and finally Muscat.

Shannon said: “At Great Australian Rum Co., we take a small-batch approach to rum-making.

“Every barrel is hand-selected, every finish meticulously crafted. This isn’t just rum—it’s a reimagining of the category.

“From the stage to the still, I’ve always chased excellence. With Great Australian Rum Co., I’m not just chasing it, I’m bottling it.”

The multi-cask finishing is a production philosophy that The Great Australian Rum Co will be bringing to the other rums in its range, with the team saying “from maple syrup barrels to rare muscat casks, each expression aims brings something unique to the glass”.

As well as the King Brown, the core range of rums will include:

  • GOLD RUM
A refined blend of ex-red wine and ex-bourbon casks. With warm vanilla, toasted oak, golden syrup, and spiced citrus notes, it’s a rum that surprises and delights.
  • WHITE RUM
Distilled four times and aged for a minimum of two years, this smooth spirit brings subtle oak and tropical character, ideal for sipping or mixing.
  • SPICED RUM
A native botanical blend that captures the essence of Australia. Bottled at 40% ABV, it’s bold enough to stand alone, smooth enough to mix.

The range will launch in late 2025 and the great Australian Rum Co said it is aiming to bridge the gap between traditional rum drinkers and whisky lovers, promising “something to discover in every bottle”.
