Peddlers Rare Shanghai Gin brings the spirit of the Tiger to Australia

by Andy Young

Peddlers Rare Shanghai Gin is celebrating Lunar New Year with a new ‘Spirit of the Tiger’ creative campaign alongside a new product bundle for bar serving Peddlers around the country.

To kick start the celebrations, Peddlers Rare Shanghai Gin instigated a series of Zodiac inspired interviews with people across generations, all born in China during the Year of The Tiger. From an 86-year-old hunter turned conservationist, to a 24-year-old surfer, a rice farmer, hip hop artist, and everything in between, these short films will be released throughout the month of February on Peddlers’ website and social media. A chance to capture Chinese culture through an evolving lens, these motion pictures pay homage to the unmatched courage from people within a country undergoing unprecedented levels of change.

Joseph Judd, Peddlers Rare Shanghai Gin Marketing Director, said: “It’s been a tough start to 2022, but Lunar New Year is a chance for us to spend time with friends and family while we honour the past and look forward to the future. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger – an animal which represents bravery in Chinese culture – and we could all do with a dose of that right now.”

Peddlers Gin is looking to honour the strength of the tiger and for a limited-time only you can purchase the gin with a complementary enamel cocktail drinking vessel, to help experience the spirit of China. Adorned with illustrations and insignia, the fire red cup is a traditional symbol of luck, and bleeds into the narrative of Peddlers Rare Shanghai Gin as the first craft gin to emerge from China.

Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide are home to temporary Peddlers bar takeovers, donning select venues in quintessential Lunar New Year inspired decorations as well as driving unique food and beverage specials.

Longtime Yum Cha in Brisbane will see exotic lion dancers and a 10 course banquet introduced for the 2nd – 3rd Feb, exclusively.

The Golden Monkey on Hardware Lane, Melbourne, will be ringing in the New Year with bespoke Peddlers cocktails, aptly named the Jade Dragon, Tiger Claw, and Wuhan Bat. Melbournians lucky enough to score two venues with the kitschy cocktail bar, Double Happiness, really leaning into its Chinese background too, serving Peddlers Signature Serve, the Shanghai Negroni, and Shanghai Club.

Similarly, the Blue Rose in Adelaide is allowing customers to dine on signature dishes now accompanied with Peddlers Lunar New Year serves.
