Patrón Perfectionists is back

by Andy Young

The Patrón Perfectionists cocktail competition is back for 2023, with the evolution of the competition continuing, with a bartending program running until September 30 2023, with a focus on the Paloma cocktail.

To support bartenders in this year’s competition Patrón brand Ambassador Alex Godfrey and reigning Australian champion Alex Boon are hitting the road to share knowledge, tricks and tips.

This year’s program is already underway having visited Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide and will be going to:

  • MELBOURNE: Wednesday 16 August, 1pm – PEARL DIVER & CO – 56 Little Bourke St, Melbourne
  • GEELONG: Friday 18 August, 1pm – 18TH AMENDMENT – 82A Little Malop St, Geelong

If you can’t make one of these sessions or missed your local event, there is also a virtual session open to all.

VIRTUAL SESSION: Thursday 17 August, 2:30pm – AEST Click HERE to join the meeting

RSVP for all session is essential – agodfrey@spiritspecialist.com.au.

The entry challenge, Paint the World Patrón Paloma, will ask bartenders to create a Patrón Paloma, worthy of their favorite global city and of Patrón Tequila’s ongoing commitment to the highest quality ingredients.

Featuring Patrón Reposado, soda water, a creative cordial flavored as the bartender likes, grapefruit in some form, and inspired by their city of choice, the Paloma entries need to be submitted by September 30.

Lauren Mote, Global Director of On-trade Excellence at Patrón Tequila and leader of the Patrón Perfectionists program, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the shape the Patrón Perfectionists platform has been taking over the past year. There’s never been a more exciting time for tequila in the global bar industry, so we have been supercharging our program to respond to the needs and aspirations of a thriving and passionate bar community.

“With an engaging platform that encompasses applied learning on our liquid and category, recipe development, techniques and rituals, and Mexican culture, we encourage participants to learn and think outside the box.

“Thanks to the support of our amazing contributors from the Patrón Perfectionists community and global on-trade, we are putting premium, hand-crafted tequila and the authentic passion of Mexico at the heart of drinks culture, welcoming more bartenders to embrace this vision with us this year.”

Shortlisted entries will then make their cocktail for Alex Godfrey in their own venue. The ten best entries will go forward to the National Final.

The Australian winner will have their name carved into our champions trophy, receive $5000, a trip of a lifetime to Hacienda Patrón in March 2024 for an experience-filled week with their fellow global finalists, a surprise panel of global mentors, judges, and the Familia Patrón in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

Entries close 23:59 AEST on September 30, 2023 and are to be submitted via the entry portal www.academiapatron.com/patronperfectionists – to stay up to date with PatrónPerfectionists and Academia Patrón programming follow https://www.academiapatron.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/academia_patron/
