New Distillery Botanica cellar door opens on Central Coast

by Molly Nicholas

Almost 18 years since it first opened its doors, award-winning Distillery Botanica has opened a new cellar door, set among three acres of tranquil gardens on the NSW Central Coast.

Distillery Botanica first opened its doors in 2007 as the sixteenth commercial small scale gin producer in Australia, and following a two-year construction, the new cellar door is home to a range of Distillery Botanica experiences, including gin-distilling workshops, cocktail making, and distillery tours.

The 144sqm cellar door is anchored by a 2400 litre copper still which rises four metres high, crafted especially for distiller Philip Moore, and to the east side of the building, sixteen individual two-litre copper stills line the wall and create a space for DIY gin-distilling workshops to be held.

As part of the experience, guests will hand-select their own herbs and botanicals from the gin garden, infuse their own bespoke gin, and design a personalised label.

To the west of the room, visitors will have the opportunity to taste the full Distillery Botanica portfolio, including six gins, two liqueurs, vodka, and a new Terrigal rum.

Stepping outside, the botanical garden spans 760sqm and features a fountain replicating a Martini glass, a reflection pond, garden beds filled with botanicals, and citrus plants. Distillery and garden tours are offered as part of the new range of cellar door experiences, including the opportunity to take an exclusive guided tour with Philip.

Located in Erina, just one hour north of Sydney, the Distillery Botanica site also includes Bar Botanic, a cocktail bar and café, and the new offering introduces live jazz in the garden from 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
