Industry heavyweights debut new Aussie agave label Beudi

Industry heavyweights debut new Aussie agave label Beudi

by Molly Nicholas August 4, 2025

Four industry heavyweights are hoping to put Australian agave on the map with the launch of a new spirit venture, Beudi.

Drawing on deep roots in the world of craft drinks, Jack Connor, owner of Rosella’s Bar in Burleigh Heads, and Pat Coulson, Dane Pitman and Tom Ruhl – who met at Stone & Wood – have a bold vision for what Australian agave could become.

Driven by a shared ambition to uplift the local agave spirits category, the founding members plan to champion native ingredients, Australian flavour profiles and small-scale distillation.

Jack says: “We’re building a brand that is true to who we are – approachable, premium and unapologetically Australian. We’re serious about good drinks, driven by locality and sustainability, while being down to earth and proud of our land.”

Launching this month, the brand’s hero product is Beudi Blanco – a fresh take on the traditional style of agave spirit. Blending years of craft expertise with a commitment to local flavour, Beudi is rooted in a strong sense of place and purpose. Key botanicals like sunrise and desert limes – sourced through Indigenous-owned social enterprise Bush to Bowl – shape the spirit’s profile, while supporting community-led land care and native agriculture.

Crafted from a premium blend of Mexican and locally grown Blue Weber Agave, each bottle of Beudi Blanco is fermented, distilled in bottled in Australia, with a vision to become 100 per cent Australian-grown when supply allows.

Paying tribute to the enduring appeal of the Margarita, Beudi launches with Beudi Margi Spirit as part of its debut range. Created to take the guesswork out of cocktail-making, Beudi Margi Spirit blends Beudi Blanco with a sunrise lime liqueur – simply add 30ml of fresh lime juice per serve for a consistently balanced, bar-worthy Margarita.

The range also includes two RTDs – Sparkling Margi RTD and Bushwater RTD, a combination of Beudi Blanco, desert lime and soda.

Pat says: “When it comes to tequila and agave spirits, Australians are a thirsty bunch; so much so we’re the third largest consumer in the world. Not only do we have a palate for the plant’s juice, we also happen to have a climate that is perfectly suited to growing it.

“While the international tequila market has experienced exponential growth for several years, the sun is just rising on Australian-grown and -distilled agave.”

Initially, Beudi has launched into a carefully selected number of hero bars along the East Coast, including Rosella’s in Burleigh Heads, Double Deuce and Ramblin Rascal in Sydney, and Savile Row in Brisbane. Once capacity allows, the team hope to expand their availability in New South Wales and Victoria.

Demonstrating its long-term vision and commitment to giving back, the brand pledges one per cent of net revenue to Australian wildlife and conservation efforts.
