Longest game Manu Ryan

Helping hospitality tackle mental health

by Andy Young

Cerbaco’s Manu Conde and Pernod Ricard’s Ryan Green are joining a group of friends to attempt a new world record and raise money for Beyond Blue.

The team of friends is taking on the Guinness World Record for the longest game of touch footy on the sand over today and tomorrow.

Conde said: “The current record is 34 hours of continuous play, six players versus six players at all time, with only five substitution players per team. On Wednesday and Thursday next week, we will play for more than 34 hours. We are expected to run approximately 100km on the sand with no sleep.

“To support Beyond Blue with us, you can come to Bondi Beach next week, anytime of day and night from Wednesday 6am, into Thursday afternoon – we should finish around sunset.

“We’ve got DJs playing music all night and food vendors on site. It would be awesome to see many familiar faces within the hospitality community. You can also make a donation to Beyond Blue from $5, we raised over $100,000 already.”

He added: “Beyond Blue is one of the greatest mental health charities in Australia. They maintain a 24/7 hotline on 1300 22 4636 that anyone can call to discuss anxiety, suicide thoughts, depression and any related topic with a health professional. This service is free thanks to Beyond Blue charity model and all their supporters, donors and fundraisers around Australia.”
