El Toro Coconut Tequila

El Toro adds coconut twist to Tequila portfolio

by Andy Young

El Toro has unveiled its latest release, El Toro Coconut Tequila – a new spin on the agave favourite that blends the punch of Tequila with the creamy hit of coconut.

The launch lands as Australia continues to prove its Tequila obsession is no passing fad, now the world’s fourth-largest tequila market by revenue, with local volumes tipped to climb another 4.36% in 2025.

“Coconut Tequila is designed to lower the barrier of entry for curious drinkers while still delivering the tequila character bartenders and retailers are looking for,” said Eloise Penny, Brand Manager at Vok Beverages.

Built on an El Toro Clásico base, the newcomer has been pitched as a versatile option that’s just as happy in a shaken cocktail as it is sipped neat or poured over ice.

“The coconut-flavoured space has long been dominated by rum and vodka. Tequila is underrepresented here, which creates a genuine blue-ocean opportunity for El Toro to help define the coconut-tequila segment in Australia,” Eloise added.

The move also taps into the wider premiumisation wave and the rise of agave-based spirits – categories many analysts expect to be key growth engines for the global drinks trade in 2025 and beyond.

Tasting notes describe creamy, tropical, toasted aromas and a palate of “smooth and refreshing, Coconut Tequila balances bold agave character with velvety coconut, lifted by citrus and a gentle warmth”.
