Bartenders help to craft Brookie’s Rainforest Gin

by Andy Young

Cape Byron Distillery has released a new gin, which celebrates World Rainforest Day, has been crafted in collaboration with five leading Australian bartenders and which features botanicals from the distillery’s own regenerated rainforest.

The winning bartenders from the 2023 reGINeration Australian Cocktail Competition helped to select the rainforest botanicals, and in a further nod to Cape Byron’s sustainability ethos and B-Corp certification one rainforest tree will be planted for every bottle of Brookie’s Rainforest Gin sold.

Eddie Brook, CEO and Co-Founder said: “Brookie’s creates world class spirits and world class drink experiences that capture the flavours of our rainforest and region.

“We have crafted our Brookie’s Rainforest Gin in collaboration with five expert bartenders to make limited edition dry style of Brookie’s gin with a purpose. Ideal for sipping a martini or shaken up in a South Side.”

The five bartenders are:

  • Andie Bulley, Waratah, Sydney
  • Ben McCarthy, High Jinks bar, Canberra
  • Greg Hookey, Captain Melville, Melbourne
  • Hamish Mcshane, Moonlight, Byron Bay
  • Rumtin Nouzat, Fineprintco-Art Bar, Gold Coast

World Rainforest Day celebrates the importance of healthy and diverse rainforests and covenes a global movement to protect and restore them.

Just 1000 bottles of Rainforest Gin have been produced and it is available through your Cape Byron representative, or direct through the distillery.
