Sugarcane Sunday popup rum market announced

For the first time since the Rum Rebellion, Sydney’s Circular Quay will again be the centre of the rum world for a day – with a popup rum market and Caribbean festival taking over Macquarie Place Park.

Sugarcane Sunday, taking place from 1pm-7pm on Sunday 8 April, sees the team from Lost Luau Tiki Pop Up Bar teaming up with The Rum Club Australia.

Consumers and trade are invited to an afternoon of tasting and buying rum, tiki mugs, Hawaiian shirts and other Caribbean apparel and paraphernalia, all set to thumping island beats and supported culinarily by a Cuban street kitchen.

The team from Lost Luau will be running a tiki cocktail bar – whipping up Daiquiris, Mai Tais and Pina Coladas – while rum distillers and importers will also be on hand to discuss and share the story of their fine rummy wares.

“This is a festival to demonstrate the fun of the island lifestyle and the culture of rum,” says organiser and rum aficionado Tom Bulmer. “Dust off your finest florals and Hawaiian shirts as we have some laughs over some tiki cocktails and tropical tunes.

“Sugarcane Sunday is a social afternoon with a popup rum market, tiki cocktail and all things tropical!”
