Melbourne distillery launches Sidekick mixer range

by Caoimhe Hanrahan-Lawrence

The team behind Naught Gin has launched a new range of mixers, Sidekick, releasing four flavours that seek to complement spirits, rather than overpower them.

Sidekick has been three years in the making, and features fresh, natural, ethically-sourced ingredients. Available in four varieties, Sublime Tonic, Cheeky Tonic, Lively Tonic and Ginger Beer, Sidekick mixers have been designed with the team’s favourite spirits in mind.

Chris Cameron, Founder and Distiller, Naught Gin, leaned on his industry experience in the creation of Sidekick.

“Coming from a background in both distilling and mixology, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what makes the perfect mixer, and what a lot of tonics get wrong is the flavours overtake the drink and don’t allow the spirit to shine through. Knowing this, we designed Sidekick to be the ultimate wingman. Both delicious on its own, but also as the perfect complement to other ingredients without being overpowering or distracting,” he said.

Sidekick describes Sublime Tonic as just right, with balanced notes of citrus and quinine, elevated with subtle orange notes. It is particularly suited to a dry gin G&T.

Cheeky Tonic blends citrus sweetness and refreshing fizz, with punchy flavours of ruby grapefruit and blood orange for a bright, full-flavoured tonic option.

Lively Tonic is a balance of citrus, cane sugar, and the subtle bitterness of quinine, resulting in a bold tonic to boost strong-flavoured spirits.

Joining the Sidekick range of tonics is Ginger Beer, which offers a gentle ginger heat and sugar cane sweetness, designed to pair with a quality whisky.

Sidekick is now available from Naught Distilling, select Victorian retailers, and online. It retails at $12 for a four-pack and $66 for a case.
