Hendrick’s Gin to debut ‘The Awakening’ this week

Hendrick’s Gin are inviting gin-drinkers, “genuine free-thinkers” and “pursuers of the peculiar” to ‘The Awakening’, an immersive and unique experience to be held at COMMUNE, a creative warehouse space in Sydney’s Waterloo.

From June 2 to 4, participants will embark on an interactive, hour-long “theatrical journey of the body and the mind, as their own human instincts, emotions and reactions become the subject.”

While exact details of the event have been kept deliberately mysterious, Hendrick’s say that guests will self-guide through a series of unexpected scenarios and theatrical interactions brought to life by independent professional theatre company Siren Theatre Co.

“Audiences will discover a treasury of tipples, daring and intimate spaces, as well as an eccentric revelry of delightfully dark surprises… Designed to reawaken our natural spirit and curiosity, the experience comes at a time where our sense have been dulled by the devices in our hands and pockets,” reads a statement from the company.

And of course, guests will also be able to enjoy a series of Hendrick’s Gin cocktails – including a classic, a seasonal and an experimental serve – while they undertake the journey.

Hendrick’s Gin Brand Ambassador Morgan Flanagan said: “Our vision was to create a one-of-a-kind experience that will leave people feeling provoked, confused, elated, revived and most importantly, awakened.

“With each stage set to trigger a myriad of feelings, The Awakening rewards the inherent inquisitiveness, humour and imagination of all participants, taking them out of their comfort zones in very contrasting ways.

“Ultimately, the journey will reward those brave enough to interact. In other words, those who seek shall discover.”

Hendrick’s Gin also recently confirmed a partnership with Dark Mofo, Mona’s winter festival. An exclusive ‘Welcome Stranger’ cocktail will be launched at The Awakening and will only be available at the sold out ‘Welcome Stranger’ event at Dark Mofo.

Tickets to ‘The Awakening‘ are $30pp and include general admission as well as three Hendrick’s Gin cocktails, and access to the Gin Bar at conclusion.
