Re, launched the Ketel One Botanical Terrace.

Re opens botanical terrace

by Dan Hughes

Recently opened Sydney bar Re, launched an outdoor dining and drinking extension last week, opening the Ketel One Botanical Terrace.

The 40-seat alfresco space is located adjacent to the newly opened bar, located in South Eveleigh, and is fitted out with custom-made Ketel One Botanical chairs and cantilever umbrellas.

Re’s Co-Founder Matt Whiley, said the vision for the bar was to have zero waste and the new outdoor setting plays into that sustainability and waste management ethos.

Whiley said: “More than anything, we want to demonstrate that a venue can be built from recycled materials and run with as little environmental impact as possible, and still exist as a world class bar.

“Working with like-minded partners is crucial to this, so we are excited to be collaborating with Ketel One to offer a new outdoor space at Re for people to enjoy our drinks.”

Landscape company Jiwah adds to the aesthetic on the botanical terrace with native plants and grasses and will fit out the area with botanicals that complement the drinks in spring.

At last week’s launch, Re highlighted its Ketel One Botanical cocktail list which were created with surplus produce and diverting waste while showcasing the innovative techniques Whiley is renowned for. In addition to Whiley’s creativity, the cocktails will be shaken by one of Australia’s best bartenders Evan Stroeve.
