In pictures: a look inside Old Love’s

Old Love’s is the new bar from Dre Walters and his team, here’s a look inside this amazing new rum bar for the Sydney scene.

The bar is located on the ground floor of the same building that houses Old Mate’s.

As well as an exciting range of modernised, old school Tiki recipes, the bar is home to some rare rums, that the team is excited about taking people through.

As well as opening the bar, Dre has also written ‘The Book of Rum’, which details rums and distilleries from all around the Caribbean Sea, as well as Central America and the top of South America. This is a passion-project for Dre, who has a long history of working at some of Sydney’s most iconic rum bars.

Dre told Bars and Clubs that the team wanted to recreate the first Tiki bar “before it got taken over by Tiki shirts and flashing neon lights”.

“We wanted to explore that first Tiki bar,” he said. adding, “that kind of place would have started with bringing back a turtle shell and putting that somewhere, just all those things you get when you travel, an old Polynesian oar or something like that.”
