Glendronach 21 returns

New packaging as The Glendronach 21 returns

by Andy Young

The Glendronach Distillery has reintroduced its 21-year-old Highland Single Malt, unveiling refreshed packaging as part of the distillery’s updated visual identity.

While the brand look has evolved, the whisky itself remains unchanged and is a continuation of the distillery’s almost 200-year heritage.

Matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Spain, The Glendronach Aged 21 Years is bottled at 48% ABV and presented at natural cask colour.

According to Master Blender, Rachel Barrie, the dram delivers an enveloping mouthfeel, telling a story of bold duality, where robust Highland spirit meets the warmth of Spanish flair in a crescendo of sherry richness unlike any other.

“The Glendronach Aged 21 Years is an elegant and sublime expression, defined by its exceptional balance and depth,” Barrie said.

“The time-honoured maturation style using Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks reveals a symphony of richness and finesse, culminating in a long, lingering finish.

“On the nose, it opens with ripe autumn fruits, blackberries, and red plums, lifted by a touch of candied orange.

“The palate is a revelation: layers of fine sherry and bitter chocolate sauce unfold over nutmeg and ginger-baked Victoria plum pudding, delivering both depth and indulgence.”

Official tasting notes also highlight spiced oatmeal and toasted oak on the nose.

The new packaging design is intended to reflect the richness and depth of the whisky inside. The Glendronach Aged 21 Years (RRP $425) was introduced to Australia in August 2025.

New 30 and 40-year-old releases will complete the distillery’s ultra-premium collection later this year. In May, the distillery released a new collection comprising three non-age-statement single malts.

The Glendronach Masters Anthology series launched with the Ode To The Valley and Ode To The Dark bottlings in late June.
