Cocktail Menu: Maybe Sammy’s Vino Bastardo

Vino Bastardo is a cocktail from the new Maybe Sammy menu, ‘Mirage’, where ‘wine becomes whisky’.

The cocktail is described as an ‘aromatic representation of an Old Fashioned’ and involves infusing Glenfiddich with raisins and Nardini Tagliatella with saffron. See instructions below, and scroll to the bottom to see the full recipe.

Raisin Glenfiddich

Ingredients:


  • 300g raisins
  • 700ml Glenfiddich 14 Year Old

Directions:


  1. Add ingredients to a vacuum bag
  2. Sous vide at 60Cº for two hours
  3. Strain through a coffee filter into bottles

Saffron Nardini Tagliatella

Ingredients:


  • 500ml Nardini Tagliatella
  • 1.5g saffron

Directions:


  1. Combine ingredients in a jar
  2. Leave overnight
  3. Strain through white cloth

Vino Bastardo

Ingredients:


  • 30ml Raisin Glenfiddich 14 Year Old
  • 30ml Cocchi Americano Bianco
  • 5ml Pavan
  • 5ml Saffron Nardini Tagliatella
  • 0.75ml Cassis Angostura Bitter

Directions:


  1. Add ingredients to a stemless Plumm wine glass (any stemless wine glass will work)
  2. Add one large ice cube and stir gently until cold and fully combined
  3. Garnish with half a red grape and micro basil on a wooden stick
