Cable Car – a twist on the modern classic

by Stefanie Collins

Created in 1996 by Tony Abou-Gamin in San Francisco. This is Sydney bar The Lobo Plantation’s twist on it.

Glass: Coupe

Ingredients:

45ml Old J Spiced Rum

15ml Cointreau

30ml fresh lemon juice

10ml Gomme

Dash of egg white

Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake hard with ice. Double strain to serve.

Garnish: A twist of lemon.

Comment: A great adaptation of a modern classic, using a spiced rum to completely change the drink. It tastes like an unadulterated doughnut. Old J is completely different to any other spiced rum and reminds us of the old recipe for Sailor Jerry’s.
