Original Tennessee Whiskeys land in Australia

by Bars & Clubs

In an exclusive opportunity for rare and highly sought after spirits – Nelson’s Green Brier and Belle Meade Bourbon are now available in limited allocations to the Australian market.

Renowned for a rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship these whiskeys offer a taste into American history that is sure to captivate bartenders, collectors, enthusiasts, and patrons alike. First produced in 1860 Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey was one of the first Tennessee whiskeys distilled in Tennessee. Under the Nelson’s Green Brier banner hitting shelves (and your bars!) will be 3 whiskeys, Nelson Bro’s Classic, Nelson Bro’s Mourvèdre cask and Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey. Also available will be Belle Meade Reserve and Belle Meade Classic which are both renowned for sipping neat or mixing into outstanding cocktails.

The history of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery is a rich one that dates back to the 1800’s. Originally founded by Charlie Nelson in circa 1850, the brand survived the prohibition of 1909 and was resurrected by chance in 2006 by Charlie Nelson’s great, great, great grandsons Andy and Charlie Nelson who stumbled across the original bottles while chatting to a local historian when on a visit to a small town in Tennessee. Since then, Charlie and Andy have taken Nelson’s Green Brier to the world, and now available in Australia by allocation.

Great cocktails start here:

Saved by the Belle

45ml Belle Meade Bourbon (Classic)

20ml House-made Rhubarb Simple

20ml Aperol

20ml Pineapple Juice

20ml Lemon Juice

Rigorous shake, and fine strain to aerate and assist with viscosity. We are garnishing with a pineapple frond and dehydrated lemon wheel coming from the same fresh fruit and juice in the recipe maintaining sustainability.

Sugar Cookie Old Fashioned:

60ml Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey

15ml Vanilla spiced simple syrup (recipe below)

2 Dashes aromatic bitters

1 Drop black walnut bitters

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over one large cube or sphere. Enjoy with cookies on the side.

Vanilla Spiced Simple Syrup

2 cups Demerara sugar

2 cups Water

7 ml Vanilla extract

Barspoon of ground cinnamon

Dash of ground nutmeg

To prepare, combine all ingredients into a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
