Heya Bar announces new Tiki bar

by Stefanie Collins

By Madeline Woolway, Hospitality Magazine

Heya Bar in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley has announced a new addition, Tiki Tiki Gai, a Tiki and rum bar, specialising in cocktails with a Polynesian and pan-Asian influence.

Installed adjacent to the sunken dining room in Heya, the dimly lit bar is filled with Hawaiian paraphernalia and selection of Barcardi rums.

“Tiki and rum based drinks are really under-represented in Brisbane at the moment,” said Jennifer Haydon, general manager of Heya Bar. “Patrons are becoming more and more discerning about what they drink and where they drink it. We think Tiki Tiki Gai is going to fill a niche in the market.

“Rum is my drink! I love the complexities, variations and wide applications of rums. I thought to myself, what could we bring to Heya that showcases rum, suits our climate and will work with our Golden Gai layout?”

Tiki Tiki Gai will open with a launch party on Thursday 6 April.
