Bushmills limited edition range lands in Australia

by Andy Young

Bushmills Irish Whiskey has partnered with online whisky subscription service, The Whisky Club, for the first release of its limited edition finishes in Australia.

The Causeway Collection is a series of limited-edition single malts from The Old Bushmills Distillery featuring rare and innovative cask finishes. The Bushmills 2006 Marsala Cask is a single malt distilled in 2006, finished in Marsala Casks and described as a “full-bodied, golden spirit”.

This tripe wood matured, non-chill filtered, 47.2 per cent ABV whiskey has no added colour and brings together a fusion of fruits and spices for indulgent drinking occasions.

Helen Mulholland (pictured above), Master Blender at Bushmills, said: “With over 400 years of whiskey-making heritage, we always say, ‘We’re not good because we’re old, we’re old because we’re good.’ Bushmills has never compromised on quality to create its signature smooth taste and famous house style.

“The global launch of The Causeway Collection represents a bold new step for us, an exciting time as we, at last, share these rare cask finished editions.”

On tasting the whiskey for the first time, Bushmills Whiskey Specialist, Andy Ratcliff, said: “Yep, that’s amazing. It’s got some nice heat to it, it’s sweet and it still tells me it’s Bushmills.”

Take a look at Andy’s first sip here:

The whiskey is described as having “notes of vanilla, spice and dried fruit” which have been developed over 12 years maturation in a combination of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, before the whiskey was finished for an additional 18 months in marsala casks.

Bertie Cason, Co-Founder of The Whisky Club Australia, said: “Our vision is to bridge the gap between distillery and consumer, to give our members a taste of something special that you just can’t get anywhere else, direct from the maker to the drinker.

“The Causeway Collection 2006 Marsala Cask is a prime example of this and we’re thrilled to be working with Bushmills on this delicious history-making malt, made exclusively for our members.”

The Bushmills 2006 Marsala Cask from The Causeway Collection is available exclusively via The Whisky Club. Sign up to The Whisky Club before October 4 to access your bottle of The Causeway Collection by Bushmills.
