A night with four of Australia’s best whisky bars

by Andy Young

It’s the stuff that dreams are made of for many people in this industry with a one-night-only Four Bar Takeover taking place at Grain Bar in Sydney.

Yao Wong, Co-Founder of The Elysian in Melbourne, Jack Stacey from The Gresham in Brisbane and Andy Tsai from Webster’s in Newtown will join Grain Bar’s Cedric Mendoza for and night of whisky and cocktails including Wong’g No One’s Pal, Stacey’s Rye Delight, Jammin’ Wit Whiskey from Tsai and host Mendoza’s Coffee Boulevardier.

Mendoza has freshly landed at Grain Bar from Singapore’s Manhattan Bar, currently named as the best bar in both Asia and the world. He told Bars and Clubs he is excited to be running and hosting the four bar takevover.

“Being fairly new to Australia, I am excited to connect and collaborate with like-minded people who have the same passions as me – a love of whiskey. From drinking whiskey neat to stirring, shaking and pouring it up in cocktails I think there is some much that the Australian public are yet to learn and that’s where we all come in.”

As if a night like this needs an excuse, but it was put together to introduce Mendoza to Sydney’s whiskey aficionados, as well as to collaborate with some of Australia’s leading bartenders in showcasing some of the world’s best whiskies.

Anyone who attends is in for a treat with the four bartenders serving up their drinks and talking with attendees about all things whiskey. The event kicks off at 5pm at Grain Bar, and I’ll see you at the bar for a cocktail.
